The movie begins with Seok-woo (Gong Yoo), a divorced father, and his daughter Su-an (Kim Su-an), who are on their way to Busan to visit Su-an's mother. As they board the train, they meet a group of passengers, including Sang-hwa (Ma Dong-seok), a tough-talking but kind-hearted friend.
