The central axis of the season remains the relationship between Vi and Jinx. Season 1 ended with Jinx firing the Super Mega Death Rocket at the Piltover council. Season 2 opens by rejecting the expected reconciliation arc.
This is an anachronistic narrative technique. By skipping the logical causal steps (How did Viktor build the Hive? How did Ambessa train the Noxians?), the show replicates the feeling of living through a technological singularity. The complaint that “nothing breathes” is valid, but it is diegetically appropriate.
