R21 introduced a cleaner, more customizable interface. Toolbars could be arranged contextually, and the Search functionality was significantly upgraded, allowing users to find features, bodies, or parts by name, type, or color across massive assemblies. The Favorite Workbenches feature allowed designers to switch between Part Design, Assembly, Generative Shape Design, and Drafting with a single click.
Many companies purchased perpetual licenses for R21. Upgrading to the latest version often requires switching to a subscription model (3DEXPERIENCE) or paying significant upgrade fees. As long as R21 meets their design needs, they see no financial justification to move.
