Search for "Samsung ML-2165W firmware V3.00.01.06" or use the "Samsung Printer Diagnostics" tool from HP’s support website. (Note: HP now handles Samsung printer support).
While the printer is off, press and hold the Power and Cancel buttons simultaneously. Keep holding them until the green light blinks rapidly, then release. The printer is now ready to accept firmware.
If you refill the cartridge yourself or buy a cheaper third-party compatible cartridge, you face a problem. The new chip might not match the printer’s current encryption key, or the firmware might have been updated by Samsung to reject "non-genuine" chips.
The ML-2165W struggles when switching between USB and Wi-Fi frequently. Pick one connection method and stick with it.
A: Possibly, but not guaranteed. The reset clears the toner page counter, but if the firmware itself is programmed to reject non-Samsung chips, a settings reset won't override that. You would need to downgrade the firmware (Method 2).
