Otis Gen2 Scratch High Quality
The most frequent culprit. The polyurethane coating on Gen2 belts naturally sheds microscopic particles over time. These particles, mixed with dust, oil mist, and debris from construction or brake wear, form a hard, lacquer-like deposit inside the sheave grooves. As the belt passes over a dirty groove, it slips microscopically and produces a high-frequency scratch or squeal.
