The Bountiful Update was a paradigm shift for custom maps and adventure modes.

Before 1.8, slime was only used for sticky pistons and leads. Post-1.8, the changed engineering forever. By bouncing entities and sticking to pistons, slime blocks allowed players to build flying machines, elevators, and self-repairing walls.
