Taylor is lowered down in a single-man pod. After a tense rescue, he and the trapped crew begin their ascent. But they are not alone. The monster that attacked them—a fully grown (nicknamed “Meg”)—has used the disabled sub’s ascent path to escape the thermocline. The creature follows them through the hydrogen sulfate cloud and breaks free into the open ocean.
