The Orthodox Church

The Orthodox Church traces its lineage directly to Pentecost (Acts 2). The apostles spread the Gospel across the Mediterranean, establishing Patriarchates in the five major centers of the ancient world: Rome, Constantinople, Alexandria, Antioch, and Jerusalem. For the first 1,000 years, these five sees were in communion, sharing the same faith.
