This paper examines the French-language fan phenomenon surrounding Inazuma Eleven (Level-5), specifically focusing on the role of “Inazuma TV Fr” — a YouTube-based content hub — in shaping game reception, fan translation practices, and community-driven archiving. While the Inazuma Eleven games achieved commercial success in Europe, the French fan base demonstrated unique participatory behaviors, including unofficial subtitling, competitive meta-game analysis, and nostalgic preservation of obscure game mechanics. Using digital ethnography and content analysis of over 50 videos from the “Inazuma TV Fr” channel (2009–2016), this paper argues that French fans acted as , bridging gaps left by official translation inconsistencies and fostering a distinct Franco-Japanese gaming literacy.
