If a machine spins at 6,000 RPM (100 times per second), the human eye sees a blur. A Flash Master fires a flash of light at exactly the same frequency (1/100th of a second). Because the light hits the spinning gear at the exact same point in its rotation every time, the gear appears to be standing still.
