By 1990, Napalm Death had left the raw, basement-scuzz of Scum (1987) behind. With the departure of vocalist Lee Dorrian and guitarist Bill Steer (who would form Carcass), the band recruited ex-Terrorizer members Jesse Pintado (guitar) and Pete Sandoval (drums).
