engine, updated by independent developers to reflect the teams and rosters of that year The Legend of "Cricket 2012" (The Modding Scene)
Since EA abandoned the cricket genre, the community did what no corporation would: they built it themselves. The exists today in spirit through massive modding patches for Cricket 07 and Ashes Cricket 2009 .
However, a large number of fan-made mods, patches, and rebranded versions of Cricket 07 circulated online between 2010–2015 under names like EA Sports Cricket 2012 , Cricket 2012 , or EA Cricket 2012 . These were not official EA products but community modifications featuring updated rosters, kits, stadiums, and menus to reflect the 2012 cricket season.
