Allah commands her: "refresh your eye" (qirri ‘aynan). This phrase goes beyond physical rest. In Arabic idiom, the "coolness of the eye" represents deep joy, relief, and comfort. It stands in contrast to the "hot tears" of grief she shed moments earlier. She is told to find joy in her child, despite the fear of societal backlash.

Allah doesn’t just comfort Maryam with abstract words. He gives her concrete, physical instructions. In the height of postpartum pain, loneliness, and fear of scandal, she is told to from the date palm (which miraculously provided fresh dates), drink from the stream that appeared at her feet (mentioned in verse 24), and “qarri ‘ayna” (cool her eyes/be content). maryam 26-30
