In the context of Dawn of War: Soulstorm , "Version 1.20" is often a point of confusion for modern players. Currently, the Steam version of the game runs on Version 1.3 (released by Relic/THQ years ago to fix engine memory limits). However, long-time community members often look back at the era of the as a turning point.
The Orks are a snowball faction. Ver1.20 fixed the ability, which now correctly doubles the speed of all infantry for 30 seconds. The meta is simple: build 4 Slugga Boyz, rush the nearest relic, and never stop fighting. The more you fight, the more resources you generate via looting. When Soulstorm first launched at version 1.0, the community was furious. The campaign’s infamous "Skyborne Battalion" (the aerial units) was broken, pathfinding was atrocious, and the Dark Eldar faction was laughably underpowered. When Soulstorm was released in 2008 by Iron Lore Entertainment (the studio behind the cult classic Titan Quest ), it was met with a mixed reception. Following the universally acclaimed Dark Crusade was a tall order. Soulstorm introduced two new factions: the Dark Eldar and the Sisters of Battle, bringing the total roster to nine distinct races. It also expanded the map to an entire star system, the Kaurava System, offering a massive planetary campaign.
