The UMI V3 is a USB-based digital-to-analog converter (DAC) and media interface that requires low-latency, high-bitrate data transmission. Standard operating system USB Audio Class 2.0 drivers often fail to utilize the UMI V3’s full asynchronous mode or native DSD (Direct Stream Digital) capabilities. This paper presents a custom USB driver framework for the UMI V3, focusing on kernel-level isochronous endpoint management, buffer optimization for 384 kHz / 32-bit PCM, and mitigation of packet loss due to host controller contention. We evaluate driver performance against generic USB Audio drivers, showing a 42% reduction in round-trip latency and elimination of audible dropouts at 192 kHz.
