The PS3’s Cell processor was notoriously difficult to code for. Sonic '06 was rushed; the developers never optimized their code for the PS3’s asymmetrical core architecture. When you run the game on RPCS3, the emulator has to translate that bad code into x86 (PC language) on the fly.
Despite these flaws—or perhaps because of them—the game has maintained a massive cult following. Players today seek out the PS3 version to experience the "glitchy charm" or to document the historical transition of the Sonic series into the HD era. Technical Requirements for Emulation
