Cormac is not a refined aristocrat like the Santino D’Antonio of the films. He is a brute in a costly suit. He runs the Continental like a feudal lord, using its neutrality as a shield while selling out its guests for profit. Gibson imbues Cormac with a sweaty, desperate energy. He is past his prime, paranoid, and furious that the new generation of assassins (like the charismatic and deadly Yen, played by Nhung Kate) does not respect his iron fist.

Every great institution needs a leader, and the New York Continental has (portrayed with suave authority by Ian McShane). Winston is the embodiment of the hotel’s ethos: sophisticated, calculating, and deeply respectful of "the old ways." The Continental- From the World of John Wick
