Lucas is curious about the father he barely knew, and Stéphane holds the keys to that history. The tension in these scenes is subtle—a lingering glance, a hesitation before answering a question. Guillaume de Tonquédec delivers a masterful performance of repressed emotion; his Stéphane is a man comfortable with words on a page but terrified of the truth spoken aloud.
“He wasn’t angry,” Lucas says softly. “He was proud of you. He just wished… you’d let him say goodbye.”
Afterward, he walks to the river with Lucas. They scatter a handful of Thomas’s ashes into the water.
