Picking up where the first film left off, sees Peter Parker facing new challenges in his personal and superhero life. Peter's relationship with Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) is put to the test as he struggles to balance his responsibilities as Spider-Man with his desire to be a normal teenager. Meanwhile, a new threat emerges in the form of Electro (Jamie Foxx), a former fan turned villain with the ability to control electricity.

The movie also deepens its exploration of Peter's supporting cast, particularly his Aunt May (Rosemary Harris) and friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan).
